The Design of Kerry Hotel

An oasis of relaxed opulence amid the expanse of Hong Kong

Sponsored by

Enter the Kerry Hotel Hong Kong and immediately you’re greeted by a vibrant, urban oasis. Panoramas of the Victoria Harbour skyline, a waterfront terrace with a landscaped garden, topiary hedges and sculptural marble walls clad in Turkish onyx. Bespoke furnishings upholstered in mauve, bronze and mineral grey dress the property’s airy lobby, alongside monumental bronze sculptures by Taiwanese artist Ju Ming.

It’s a surprisingly serene setting seemingly far from the Hong Kong bustle.

Located on the Hung Hom promenade on the Kowloon waterfront, the Shangri La-owned Kerry Hotel caters to those seeking an authentic glimpse into both new and old Hong Kong.

Take for instance Hung Tong restaurant. Recalling the trading spirit of the former dockyards where this hotel is situated, the restaurant’s warm dining highlights contemporary Chinese fare amid a rustic, nautical-chic aesthetic. In Big Bay Café, seven different pavilions (Steam, Grill, Chill, Fry, Stew, Dessert Lab and The Nook) offer a myriad of culinary experiences and the two-tier terrace offers al fresco dining overlooking the harbour.

Perhaps most memorable is Red Sugar rooftop bar, where a more modern, artistic theme takes hold – juxtaposing whimsical neon installations by local artist Adrian Wong with steel, granite and brass of the port days. None of this, of course, distracts from the terrace’s 270-degree sweeping views of the harbour.

The modern Asian design continues throughout 546 rooms, which are coloured in a palette of eucalyptus timber, anodized bronze and mineral blue and are carefully decorated with lush upholstery and subtle touches including custom pendant lights. Like the rest of the property, the open design and windows remind you of the city at hand, among the glow of Hong Kong’s lights.

Enjoy a relaxing staycation with unobstructed views over Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. Valid for stays until 31 December 2019, the Staycation offer includes daily buffet breakfast and dinner at Big Bay Café for up to two guests, use of the hotels fitness centre and swimming pool, Double GC award points and more.
