Mastering the custom-made, Italian yard Sanlorenzo is seeing a fruitful year for its 460EXP range

These are interesting – and busy – times at Sanlorenzo. With a host of different projects underway, the Elite Days gathering in May, at which the Italian yard presented the latest additions to its fleet, attracted 450 guests.

The setting was La Piazzetta in Portofino, the theme was green with a preview of the first unit of the SL106 Hybrid taking centre stage. Developed in cooperation with Diesel Center and MTU, the yacht will premier later this year.

Already in the water is the second unit of the 460EXP range. The explorer displacement hull in steel with an aluminium superstructure, M/Y X was launched in March. With her Mexican owner choosing a six-cabin configuration, the 42.2m vessel also sports an outdoor gym and countercurrent pool. Both the main deck and the upper deck salon feature a 14-seater dining layout equipped by the Italian furniture firm Minotti.

In keeping with Sanlorenzo’s desire to provide fully customised yachts, X has a pearl-grey hull, whereas the first unit Moka has an olive-coloured one. Otherwise, the sister yachts, built for long-distance cruising, are much alike and X will hope to match a performance from her predecessor that saw her cross the Atlantic with a range of 5,600nm at an average speed of 12 knots, and an extra autonomy that allows it to reach the most remote locations. No wonder another four units of 460EXP have been sold.
