The Southern Wind Grows
Fulfilling a passionate brief, South African yard Southern Wind delivers custom yacht Ammonite RS
The third unit in the popular 82‘ series from Cape Town based shipyard Southern Wind has been delivered to the impassioned sailor Marcus Blackmore, an Australian owner whose brief for his dream yacht was “a sexy body and a highly competitive soul”.
Farr Yacht Design penned Ammonite’s hull lines and appendages, her interior spaces given form by Nauta Design. Optimal sailing performance in both light and heavy winds is guaranteed thanks to her high modular carbon mast, EC6+ Carbon rigging and efficient racing winches. For the first time in the yards’ history they have incorporated a lifting keel that allows for cruising in shallow waters.
Bleached oak, trimmed with wenge inserts and carbon fibre make for a contemporary interior design, paired with dark brown leather and polished stainless steel.
