Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District, a hub for culture and tourism featuring an enticing array of museums and galleries, continues to expand its attractions. The futuristically amorphous TeamLab Phenomena gallery opened this spring, and the inaugurations of both Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (the Emirati branch of the iconic New York institution, placing a special emphasis on West Asian, North African and South Asian art) and the Zayed National Museum (dedicated to Emirati history) are planned for later this year.

One of Oxford’s latest stays may be one of its quirkiest: a former Victorian public convenience, entirely hidden from passers-by beneath the pavement, mere steps from the Ashmolean. Inspired by its setting in the historical English city – and with a few subtle nods to its own less-than-illustrious past – The Netty delivers theatrical, detail-rich design across two sumptuous suites, courtesy of London-based interior designer Rachael Gowdridge.

Brenners Park-Hotel, a staple of old-world hôtellerie at the doorstep of the Black Forest, is set to reopen this summer following an extensive revamp affecting most of the main building, from subtly tweaked layouts in the top-floor suites to new wiring and cooling systems throughout. However, much of the hotel remains unchanged, with the original furniture back in place, the doors lovingly spruced and rehung, and even the old plumbing restored rather than replaced, leaving it refreshed, yet comfortingly familiar.
