Soneva Fushi
The original desert island experience

One of the first wave of Maldivian resorts, Soneva Fushi is the epitome of barefoot chic. Eco-friendly and very laid back, it’s a shoes-off kind of place where every one of the 65 thatched villas comes with its own Man Friday, some with private pools. At 40 hectares, it’s a big island, so it never feels over-run, although the lack of a communal pool may frustrate. The spa offers holistic treatments and yoga sessions and the house reef is fantastic, while the outdoor cinema screenings, observatory and dining are all very impressive.
