Capella Hanoi

Inside the newly opened, operatic world of designer Bill Bensley and his latest creation, Capella Hanoi

A charming, petite auberge idealising the halcyon days of opera has just opened in Hanoi’s cultural corridor, just steps away from the iconic, Palais Garnier-influenced Hanoi Opera House. Thanks to the always-whimsical designer Bill Bensley, the 47-key Capella Hanoi captures the theatricality of the stage, with artefacts, instruments and costumes adorning the stalwart landmark. In each suite, pieces of operatic memorabilia and custom portraiture art by Kate Spade illuminate each room. At the hotel’s signature restaurant, guests can expect modern northern Vietnamese cuisine, and, in the bar, bespoke cocktails are served under the watchful gaze the works of famous female artists of the bygone era such as Anna Held and Coco Chanel.
