Reserva do Ibitipoca
Eco-minded lodgings in the Brazilian wilds
This project stemmed from the creation of a space connected to the Ibitipoca State Park to aid the development of wildlife. The hotel was built in 2009 and opened the reserve to ecotourists – they can now explore the unique and incredible local fauna and flora.
Guests are hosted 900m above sea level in a building inspired by typical 18th-century farmhouse architecture. Accordingly, the retreat is unlike a large hotel, fosters a welcoming and homely atmosphere, and produces its own food. It offers an opportunity to explore the 200km of reserve trails on foot, by bike, on horseback, or in a 4x4.
