Castello di Ugento
Contemporary quarters in the d’Amore family’s 17th-century castle

Enjoying an elevated position overlooking Ugento thanks to its former life as a fortress, this new arrival performs the tried and tested trick of mixing ancient architecture with up-to-date flourishes. The guest rooms and suites within the castle’s sandy 17th-century walls are flush with hand-woven bedspreads, and custom-made furniture by Cassina and Minotti, not to mention organic, olive oil-based toiletries. Many of the larger suites offer private terraces perched above the town’s rooftops. Through a concierge, guests can also organise bespoke trips to Salento and its abundance of frescoed churches and golden beaches.
