Fiordland Lodge
Close to Milford and Doubtful Sounds, this World Heritage landscape has a lodge which doesn’t impose on the natural wonders
On the edge of 1.2 million hectares of fiord, rainforest and mountain, Fiordland Lodge, perched on a hillside by Lake Te Anau does a sterling job of blending in with the staggering dimensions of the landscape it’s enveloped in. Tree trunk pillars, river stone fireplaces and rooms with uninterrupted views across the lake create a sense of openness and total harmony with the elements. Bathroom fittings are made from swamp kauri wood and the in-house guides can arrange everything from hunting and fly fishing trips to bird watching and trips into those fabled Sounds of Doubtful and Milford.
