Canadian entrepreneur David Gilmour’s epitome of an island idyll has the feeling of a land that time forget. The ten thatched bures or cottages, surrounded by a canopy of exotic trees, hark back to a less complicated era and while high-speed internet is available in all of them, the lack of television and phones emphasise that this is a place where you can really get away from it all. The resort’s Palm Grove restaurant maintains this simple theme, taking its ingredients from the surrounding gardens and the sea to make traditional Pacific Rim fare.
