There is an almost ethereal quality to the surrounds of Priesteregg. The magisterial mountain scenery, the scent of pine trees, the wooden chalets – it is not hard to see why the priests of Salzburg would use this place as a retreat. The chalets here now, though, along with a traditional alpine kitchen with wood-fired stove, have all the mod-cons – a dishwasher, electric stove, microwave and refrigerator for self-catering, while a cosy mountain tavern provides Austrian beer and warming food for those who want to eat out.
