The boutique Hotel DeBrett is an essential evening stop-off, what with the Housebar’s ever-evolving cocktail menu infusing tastes from saffron to orchard fruits into classically inspired offerings along with a diverse, mostly New Zealand wine and beer list. The cosy, art deco-styled bar leads through to a light-filled atrium that was once an alleyway – now it’s all exposed brick and plush furnishings clustered around a fireplace.
