La Fontaine de Belleville
Own-brand coffee and jazz in the 10th district
Owned by the same people who brought Paris the Belleville Brûlerie, a coffee roaster, this delightful corner joint plates a mixture of fare. Head in for chorizo bellota, spice cake, the croque monsieur with a green salad or the “sandwich of the moment”, then wash your sustenance down with the café’s own reputation-rich coffee, of course. It’s all served amid gold-leaf adornments and underneath Bocci chandeliers. On Saturdays a jazz concert is played out to a backdrop of the city’s 10th district, not far from the picturesque Canal Saint-Martin.
