Bakfickan
Cosy dining in the historic Operakällaren
One of many eateries inside the esteemed Operakällaren (Royal Opera House), Bakfickan is an intimate setting ripe for tucking into some famous Swedish meatballs. Nicknamed “The Hip Pocket”, the restaurant – complete with Peter Celsing’s famed interiors – seats just 28 diners at its counter bar or dotted around it on small tables. Aside from the meatballs (served with cream sauce with potato purée, lingonberries and pickled cucumber), chef Stefano Catenacci doles out other tantalising classics including “Isterband” sausage with capers, apples, beets and creamed potatoes with chives. Try to spot some of the off-duty opera singers too.
