Emerging out of her one-time mentor Gordon Ramsey’s shadow, Clare Smyth, the only British female chef to hold three Michelin stars, reveals this 54-table newbie. Based at a low-pitched but delightful townhouse in Notting Hill, her debut eatery goes against the haute cuisine blueprint with cloth-less tables and subtle paint colours. Settle down to British fare crafted into an extensive tasting menu; the Isle of Mull scallop cooked over wood, the lamb braised carrot with sheep’s-milk yoghurt and the Scottish venison plus smoked chestnut, pearl barley and whiskey all stand out on a more-than-ample list.
