The sense of occasion is omnipresent at Le Gavroche: a subterranean, second-generation institution, today helmed aptly by Michel Roux Jr. With its plush hunter-green walls and banquettes, original artworks, sculptures and drawings and matchless cuisine, Le Gavroche was,in fact, Britain’s first restaurant to receive a Michelin star, followed by a second, and a third. Today, not much has changed: La Gavroche serves stellar classic French dishes based on seasonal ingredients, updated with a lighter, more contemporary finish.
