The Pottinger
Heritage-imbued modernity on street level
While a relatively new addition to Central’s long list of lodgings, The Pottinger brings an essence of the city’s long and rich history to the fore, with an emphasis on its location – the first stone-slabbed street on what was once a sandy shoreline. Here spacious standard rooms in a colonial chic decor with Eastern cultural flourishes cosset, original Fan Ho black and white photography detailing traditional Hong Kong and The Pottinger’s historic surrounds give a sense of context to the establishment. A clutch of restaurants in the hotel offer on-the-spot dining, but the lively, English-themed The Envoy bar draws attention, serving afternoon tea and spirited libations late into the night.
