Palace Hotel Tokyo
Modernised classic to satisfy imperial tastes

Overlooking the moat of the Imperial Palace, this hotel may date back to the 1960s, but a makeover, completed in 2012, has given it a feel as modern as the art that adorns its walls. Its 278 rooms and 12 suites recreate the glorious royal gardens that abut them, with earthy colours and leaf motifs to the fore, while each has a balcony from which those on the south side of the hotel can enjoy views of the real thing. Ten eateries offer dining options to guests including authentic Japanese fare at Wadakura.
