Hotel Arts Barcelona
The haute beach hotel

A landmark development that coincided with the 1992 Olympic Games, this almost 500-key tower of blue glass and steel is as much an icon of the Barcelona Boardwalk as the Frank Gehry sculpture Peix in Catalan outside its lobby. Located just off Vila Olimpica beach and Port Olímpic (which can accommodate 35m-long yachts), uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean and Barcelona city are all but guaranteed from most of the neutrally toned rooms and suites – often punctuated with colour and each given their own personality and unique style. Top floor penthouse duplexes offer the most, making spectacular use of the Bruce Graham architecture, as does the loftily perched spa which boasts open-air terraces.
