Champs Élysées Rive Blanche Nympheas
Fresh brand Champs Élysées signals a new approach, producing timepieces exclusively for women.
For the most part, women’s watches tend to be smaller, more decorative versions of existing men’s timepieces. Increased variety and the availability of more artistic watches is something many female timepiece enthusiasts yearn for, and seeking to address this, new company Champs Élysées aims to address this.
The fresh Swiss brand produces exclusively women’s watches, and imbues each of them with a unique design and story. Built on the romantic theme of Paris and the famous shopping boulevard, Champs Élysées timepieces are Parisian in their design by mixing emotion with jewellery. A highlight piece is the Rive Blanche Nympheas – a diamond decorated artistic creation that celebrates bodies of water.
In 18k white gold the 33.65 x 38.60mm wide case of the Rive Blanche Nympheas is designed to look like a drop of water. The dial for the time has been decorated with a case meant to look like a pond. Champs Élysées uses a mixture of 70 diamonds and 258 blue sapphires to create the appearance of a water surface, above which floats a pair of dauphine-style hands. Inside the watch is a Swiss quartz movement.
Rather than offer a full pave diamond setting for the case, Champs Élysées cleverly kept the surface of this Rive Blanche model clean. Instead, they designed three precious stone set water lilies on the case to further the aquatic theme of the watch. The jewelled flowers are each permanently attached to the case, and each is decorated with 132 round diamonds and a single yellow sapphire stone in the centre. In total, each Champs Élysées Rive Blanche Nympheas contains 396 diamonds.
Attached to the watch is a white alligator strap with a diamond-decorated clasp. While the Nympheas version of the Rive Blanche is decidedly more formal, particular in its wearability, its core design is both elegant and comfortable.
