NEMO Submarine by U-Boat Worx

Explore what lies beneath

The latest underwater toy from Dutch submersible manufacturer U-Boat Worx is this state-of-the-art two-seat sub, named NEMO, which is capable of exploring the wondrous depths of the ocean down to 100 metres.

Weighing in at 2,500kg and measuring a mere 155cm, NEMO’s not only the lightest manned submarine on the market but it’s also incredibly compact, with the lightweight construction allowing it easily to be stored on a yacht or towed behind a vehicle – the sub is literally smaller than two jet-skis.

From a technical perspective, finer details of NEMO include octagonal thruster ducts, a car-like stern and fully acrylic pressurised hull. The thrusters allow the vessel to hover close to any object, whereas the bubble-like transparent sphere construction provides completely uninterrupted views of the sea from the cockpit. Even better, the vessel can easily be piloted via a video game console-like controller; it travels up to 3 knots underwater; and the battery lasts for up to 8 hours.

U-Boat Work provides a required 12-day training courses with the purchase of a NEMO submersible. Upon completion, the owner will learn everything to become a certified operator and then be handed the keys to their new sub.
