Vigilius Mountain Resort

Subtly built resort pays full respect to its environment

Reachable only by a seven-minute cable car ride from Lana, South Tyrol, Vigilius prides itself on being one with nature. This 41-key eco-hotel, 1,500 metres above sea level, blends into its vertiginous surrounds, determined not to spoil the peace and quiet of this sanctuary to the extent that televisions are not placed in the rooms (though a hi-fi with iPod port and free wi-fi are). Best then to lie back in the warm tones and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the exceptional mountain scenery.
