Minnie Cooper
Artisanal shoemaker’s Avondale retail space

Making something by hand is the sign of a true artisan. Leather shoes and bags gracing the shelves at Minnie Cooper’s manufactory-side retail space have been made in Auckland, by hand, since 1989 – and the colourful creations for men and women, with block colours and interesting cut-outs, are things of beauty. Designer Sandy Cooper passionately believes in keeping manufacturing jobs within the country, and only a few soles come from overseas when necessary, as does their silky-soft range of imported merino knitwear.
