Reaching New Heights in Jakarta

The Langham opens its first outpost in Southeast Asia

Sponsored by

A cloud of fluttering butterflies greets you when you step inside The Langham, Jakarta’s arrival lobby (hero photo). The 3,000 crystal butterflies, suspended from delicate wires, are part of an installation that sets the tone for The Langham, Jakarta – a place that lifts you above the humdrum of the everyday.

Set in the District 8 complex in the Sudirman Central Business District, The Langham, Jakarta embodies understated urban luxury with its calm neutral interiors, its marble bathrooms, its works by local artists and its floor-to-ceiling windows. The Langham Club level offers dedicated butlers and complimentary food and beverages, while for the ultimate indulgence, the 336 square metre Presidential Suite has its own terrace and an in-suite gym, with a private trainer available on call.

The food is as enticing as the rooms. The hotel’s restaurants include Tom’s by Tom Aikens, where diners can enjoy the best of western with a touch of British cuisine while seated on salmon-coloured banquettes. Just as inviting is the French flair of ALICE, where you can enjoy The Langham’s famous afternoon tea. (Worth knowing: the bar at ALICE specialises in French champagne and also offers the largest selection of gins in town.) And opening soon is T’ang Court, the local outpost of the three-Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant at The Langham, Hong Kong.

If you are looking to host an event – whether it is a wedding or a luxury product launch – The Langham Jakarta has plenty of memorable venues to choose from, including outdoor spaces such as the verdant Hampton Garden and indoor options such as the grand ballroom.

More interested in exploring Jakarta? The concierge team is standing by with a range of activities and excursions. They can point you towards the best museums and galleries or, if you would rather get active, they can also organise rafting trips, biking tours, and even flightseeing via helicopter.

No matter how busy your schedule, it pays to put aside some time for at least one session in the serene Chuan Spa. This 670sq m space contains Jakarta’s highest indoor infinity sky pool and also offers an impressive range of treatments based on traditional Chinese medicine techniques.
