The Art of Time

A true connoisseur of superlative watches, Bucherer showcases the very best of the world of haute horlogerie.

Sponsored by

For well over a century, Bucherer, the Swiss luxury watch and jewellery retailer, has been at the centre of innovation and excellence in the world of haute horlogerie. The Lucerne-based firm offers a celebration of watchmaking around the world, featuring high-end names and smaller, independent manufacturers. The epitome of this is the Masterworks concept – a collection of exceptional timepieces that embody the very best and most innovative examples of the watchmaking craft.

At present, there are eight permanent Masterworks stages in selected Bucherer flagship stores around the world: three in Switzerland (Geneva, Lucerne and Zurich); in Berlin; at the Las Vegas TimeDome and New York TimeMachine in the US; and in London at Covent Garden and Selfridges on Oxford Street. At these locations, customers can experience a carefully curated selection of established haute horlogerie timepieces as well as up-and-coming niche brands. Watchmaking is exhibited as the art it truly is – elevating it to status that reflects the intricacies, inventiveness and disruptive nature of modern horology, encapsulated in a relaxed atmosphere where collectors can get together to discover and discuss such wonders on show.

The Perpetual Calendars - clockwise from left: the new IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Double Moon; H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Calendar, a striking creation; Bulgari’s beautifully contemporary Octo Finissimo Carbon Gold Perpetual Calendar

Among the timepieces on show are tourbillons, open worked watches, perpetual calendars and gem-set watches. Three watches in particular exemplify the fantastic creations in these categories. The Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon has a movement that is just 3.3mm thick and is  one of the very few flying tourbillon watches to bear double Chronometer and Poinçon de Genève certification. From H Moser & Cie the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar features tantalum, a stable and durable metal with a unique hue that’s polished with the ancestral technique of “grand feu” enamelling. And Ulysse Nardin’s Freak ONE is powered by the calibre UN-240 Manufacture, an automatic movement with a 90-hour power reserve

Such remarkable individual watches come together as a whole and form the basis for Bucherer’s Masterworks selection – a timeless showcase of unique and exceptional timepieces for the true connoisseur to enjoy.
