La Hacienda Xcanatún
Atmospheric glimpse into Mexico’s colonial past
This restored 18th-century hacienda lies just a short drive north of Mérida. 18 suites and rooms are dotted throughout the 3.6ha grounds, decorated with mix of Mexican artefacts and textiles, and featuring high ceilings and heavy carved wood doors. Situated in the plantation’s former machine house, the award-winning restaurant serves cuisine influenced by both French culinary techniques and Yucatan tradition. A holistic spa offers Mayan-inspired treatments and two freshwater pools are hidden in the verdant grounds.
